Dr. Ivan O’ Connell Wins Science Foundation Ireland Award

We are delighted to announce that MCCI’s Dr. Ivan O’ Connell has won a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Award for Industry Partnership.The SFI Industry Partnership Award celebrates a collaboration between an SFI-funded academic research group and industry.

The winners of the prestigious 2018 Science Foundation Ireland Awards were revealed at the annual SFI Science Summit today.Joined by over 350 leading members of the Irish research community,  Dr Ivan O’Connell of MCCI was recognised along with six other awardees as key leaders in the Irish Research Community.The  awards were unveiled today at the annual SFI Science Summit and celebrate SFI researchers’ contributions to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Speaking about the award Donnacha O Riordan, Executive Director MCCI, said:  “I’m  delighted to congratulate Dr. Ivan O’Connell and see his outstanding work acknowledged in this manner through the SFI Science Awards. Ivan’s collaboration with our industry partners in the areas of Analogue Mixed Signal Circuits and Data Converters continues to add significant value to their businesses, and is now making an impact in applications for Internet of Things, Smart Agri and Med Tech. This is a fantastic achievement that recognises the contribution Ivan has made to the MCCI, Tyndall and indeed National research community, as one of Ireland’s top researchers in his field”.

Dr Ivan O’Connell is the Analog Mixed-Signal Principal Investigator at Microelectronic Circuits Centre Ireland (MCCI), hosted in the Tyndall National Institute. His primary research interests are in the area of Analogue Mixed Signal Circuits and data converters. He is particularly interested in the application of this research in the application areas including: Internet of Things, Biomedical, Smart Agri and Energy Harvesting. He is currently a principal investigator in a number of Innovation Partnerships. Dr O’Connell is an SFI CONNECT Funded Investigator and a successful SFI-NSF iCorps awardee.

Science Foundation Ireland Awards 2018
