Domenico Zito, a researcher based in UCC Ireland, has developed an UWB pulse radar chip which could help in the prevention of sudden infant death and in the monitoring of patients with respiratory issues. This is the first time an UWB pulse radar has been integrated into a single chip. The chip was presented at ISSCC 2011 in San Francisco.
